Adygea

The Adyghe Republic is located on the picturesque northern slopes of the Caucasus ridge, which descends downward to the fertile Kuban plain. The republic stretches over a territory of 7.800 square kilometers and has a total population of 450.000. Adyghea, a member of the Russian Federation. Elected president and parliament.
The Republic of Adyghea, was formed in 1991. It was part of different territorial formations in the south of Russia from 1922. Its status was as an autonomous region in this era. Adyghea was part of the Krasnodar Territory from 1937 until 1991. It became an independent member of the Russian Federation in 1991.

Adyghea is formed according to the constitution of March 1995. After independence Adyghea reached a higher status. Its economic relations is so strong with Russia. Adyghea is a member of the Association of Socioeconomic Cooperation Between the Republics, Territories, and Regions of the Northern Caucasus.
The official language is Cherkess(Circassian). Capital: Maikop. The main territory of Adyghea lies between the rivers Kuban and Laba. Here is a unique combination of flora and fauna, climate, landscape and exotic natural zones creating the perfect backdrop for a range of tourist and medical centers. The tourist centers can accommodate up to 2000 people during the summer and 600 people during the winter. About 20000 tourists visits Adyghea throughout the year.
